What is IME?

The multi-chain project, the first of its kind ever to be run in Italy, has taken shape thanks to Regional Law no. 49 of 23 December 2013 (which entrusted pole management to the Istituto Marchigiano di Enogastronomia) and aims to place high quality Marche products on the system, through a single brand. Aim: to become a platform and reference point for schools, hotel training institutes, businesses, restaurateurs, producers, tour operators, tourists, organisations and entities.

Thirteen subjects have adhered to the project to promote and optimise Marche food and wine. The range goes from a dairy, with TreValli Cooperlat, to wine, with Istituto Marchigiano di Tutela Vini [Marche Wines Protection Institute] (lead partner, together with Jesi Council, through Istituto Marchigiano di Enogastronomia [Marche Food and Wine Institute]) and the Vini Piceni [Piceni Wines] Consortium, from meat (BovinMarche) to Qualità Marche products; from organic pasta and cereals (Marche Bio) to the maccheroncini pasta of Campofilone Igp; from the Tartufo di Acqualagna e delle Marche [Truffle of Acqualagna and Marche] Consortium to the consortia of Casciotta d’Urbino Dop cheese and Oliva ascolana del Piceno Dop olives, through to the Centro Agroalimentare San Benedetto del Tronto [San Benedetto del Tronto Agricultural Food Centre]. Space is also given over to tourism, with the adhesion of the Frasassi Consortium and the tour operator, Esitour.

The institutional site in Jesi, in what was formerly the regional wine bar and home to Italcook, will provide access to “Made in Marche”: a catalyst for the incoming of Italian and foreign operators, for local business and tourism.

The actions planned include the development of a teaching classroom that is truly one-of-a-kind in Italy, dedicated to the boys and girls from 5th year primary through to secondary schools: an area measuring more than 800 m2 on the Jesi industrial estate (expected to open in 2018), where Marche boys and girls can be given the opportunity of learning of the origin, quality and culture of Marche productions and the rural environment in this wonderful region. Thanks to the multimedia supports (interactive stations, videos and games on the 5 senses), the teaching classroom, which will be developed for. The spaces, made available thanks to the partners Banca Popolare di Ancona and Sogenus, will also be open to all enthusiasts of the world of wine. Finally, a Food Terroir and Wine Observatory is to be created, to analyse consumption trends, lifestyles, and perception of territories, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Marche.
